  • WE BELIEVE in the power of re-directing Black consumer spending. The current purchasing power of these consumers exceeds $750 billion. Today more than 95% of this money is spent outside of Black owned businesses, organizations, and institutions.  We believe this is a problem. We must end the "boycott of black businesses."

  • WE BELIEVE in being solution and action oriented.

  • WE BELIEVE that Black people must raise our Afrikan consciousness. We have to de-activate our "Willie chips." In order for Black people to improve our overall economic condition we must get organized, raise our consciousness, and re-direct our spending. By changing our thinking we will change our condition.

  • ARE YOU DOWN WITH OUR VILLAGE? TAKE ACTION. SEE HOW BELOW.

National Alliance of Market Developers (NAMD) In 1952, a group of Black professionals met to discuss the lack of money being spent by major corporations to effectively court and woo the "Negro market." Largely ignored, these Black pioneers realized a critical need to overcome the challenges and develop the opportunities that existed in their day. They determined to come together as a collective unit of marketers, public relations professionals, and corporate executives and created THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF MARKET DEVELOPERS (NAMD). As a result of the success of these NAMD pioneers we now see the development of "niche markets, ethnic markets, multicultural marketing" and other consumer targeting strategies that did not exist prior to their efforts. Today, the work of NAMD continues through chapters across the U.S.

BOBSA, is the Black Owned Beauty Supply Association. It represents the $8 billion Black Hair Care and Cosmetic industry, one of the few modern American industries that was founded by African American women. Today, this industry has been hijacked by white and Korean business owners. Although 99% of the consumers and money comes from Blacks, 99% of the revenue generated goes directly to non-Blacks. The mission of BOBSA is to connect Black manufacturers to Black beauty supply stores, to salons, to the Black community. You can learn more by watching the Black Hair DVD and and joining BOBSA today.

Universal Companies helps insure that the benefits of a changing community are available to all residents. The transformation of many urban areas (e.g. gentrification) has left many long time residents of these neighborhoods in the cold. African Americans suffer disproportionately and often are unable to participate in the "urban renaissance." The premise of the Universal Plan is simple – without a comprehensive approach to community development, true neighborhood revitalization will never occur. This is particularly true in the African-American community, which faces significant challenges on many levels. Nearly 50% of African-Americans live in the country’s largest 8 urban areas, many of them low-income. Therefore, the key to revitalizing the African-American community lies in revitalizing America’s cities. The Universal Plan for Urban America is a multi-pronged approach to reinvesting in urban America – and in the African-American community.
