::MANIFEST DESTINY FROM "CIVIL RIGHTS" TO "SOVEREIGN RIGHTS" By Ezrah Aharone::

From emancipation to segregation to integration – from Tubman to King to Obama – the freedom of African Americans emerged from a continuum of political evolutions, each of which is built upon prior legacies and achievements.  In advancing the forward flow of this political progression, Sovereign Evolution re-declares freedom and equality in 21st-century terms, using sovereign principles and standards.

"Today’s political world is light years from both the 1860's when segregation was progress, and the 1960's when riding the front of a bus was progress,” contends Aharone.  “Where you sit on a bus today is becoming cosmetic, considering the webbings of geopolitics that control the chromium, oil, and rubber for its tires.  Our conceptions and moral obligations of freedom must therefore continually evolve in pace with the political times.”

With “sovereignty” being the highest expression of political authority and accountability of a people, Aharone applies sovereign ideals in ways that no other work has convincingly related to the African American experience.  Its 301 pages however do not promote a movement for political independence, but rather provide a mirror to show a clearer political reflection of our historical development and future potential as a people.

As Aharone writes, “Sovereign Evolution is both the title of this work, as well as a transformative political concept that offers new solutions to centuries-old difficulties.”  Each chapter accordingly sets a platform to infuse sovereign discourse into mainstream domains that span from street corners and Hip Hop culture; to Black universities and intellectuals; to church congregations; to Black government officials.

Aharone speaks a refreshed political language with an evolutionary message that addresses issues facing all generations.  His originality of thought, coupled with his international experience living and working in Africa, provides a unique scope of reference that gives Sovereign Evolution uncommon distinction.
